| Revolver hit the scene in the spring of 2006 when one of the captains of Kaos, Nick Handler, enlisted the support of older teammates Chris McManus and Marc Weinberger to build a new Bay Area program from scratch. To fill out the initial roster, the captains sought to mine talent from top local college programs and bring together several groups of players who were already familiar with each other, achieving a balance of experienced veterans and impressionable youngsters.
After struggling in a few early tournaments in its inaugural season, the team hit its stride with a strong performance at Colorado Cup, qualified 3rd for Sarasota out of the cutthroat Northwest, and capped its impressive debut by claiming a surprising 5th-place finish at Nationals. A tragic loss in the game to go at Regionals kept Revolver home from Sarasota in 2007. In 2008 the team finished 5th as another step on the path towards the top! Revolver takes great pride in its reputation as a cohesive unit of humble role players as opposed to a collection of superstars. The team expresses this philosophy of blue-collar effort and personal accountability through a simple slogan: Not Enough. The team also places an unusual emphasis on mutual respect and friendship; most of the players count their teammates among their closest friends. In addition to demanding discipline, humility, and intensity at all times, Revolver requires its players to engage in credit card roulette at team dinners -- and to suffer defeats with grace. With a deep roster that features many young players who have yet to reach their prime, Revolver intends to be a fixture on the national scene for years to come. |
